Nail treatments: manicures or pedicures

Manicures or pedicure involve basic cuticle work, file and paint. No extra cost for a French manicure. When having a OPI file and paint on your toes please remember to bring your flip flops with you as you will be unable to put shoes and socks on at the end of your appointment.

Nail rehab appointment

If you have severely bitten nails, poorly maintained cuticles or just plain neglected nails The ‘normal’ manicure is probably not enough for you. It takes time to tidy up nails that have been neglected for a while. Therefore I would recommend booking a longer appointment. It’s absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about, my nails often look awful after doing lots of DIY etc around the house, so I need longer to tidy them up. I charge all my appointments by time. Hygiene

I purchase full metal tools for my manicures and pedicures where possible, which are sterilized in my glass bead steriliser after each client. Read more about my infection control policy on my blog post.

About the brands

I use OPI nail polish for my manicures and pedicures in my Norwich beauty salon as I feel it’s the longest and hardest wearing of the polishes on the market. I have over 20 colours available for you to choose from for your manicure or pedicure. If you are trying to match a shade to your bridesmaid’s dresses or similar please do let me know as I often get in new colours for this very reason. It is important to me to find a “greener” product for my manicures and pedicures and since 2006 OPI have removed two of the most dangerous chemicals from their polishes, which are DBP (dibutyl phthalate), and toluene. They never used formaldehyde in their nail polishes. It is by no means an organic product, but they are definitely leading the way to creating a more chemical-free manicure which lasts! I try my best to source products which are as natural as possible for my Norwich salon, but that also give long lasting performance, to give you the best of both worlds for your manicure. I use Ethyl acetate, which is a non-acetone nail polish remover when doing manicures and pedicures. Acetone can cause your nails to become brittle over time. I always advise putting Vaseline on the skin to create a barrier when using it. Ethyl acetate is what I personally recommend on removing children’s nail polish as it’s a less dangerous chemical than Acetone. Ideally use a water based nail polish for children, but it’s not long lasting. If you have any questions about manicures, pedicures, or any of my other treatments, please don’t hesitate to contact me. OPI nail polishes are free of DBP, toluene and formaldehyde.  I use Kaeso hand products, which are free from Parabens, Sulphates, Propylene Glycol and Mineral Oil.

Aftercare for your manicure:

  • Use acetone on your nails as little as possible as it weakens nails
  • Use almond oil on your cuticles
  • Use hand cream
  • File your nails in the same direct
  • Eat healthy and drink lots of water
  • Wear gloves when working in the garden or with chemicals
  • Regular manicures

Thanks so much to you both for coming over and painting all of our nails. It was incredibly short notice and there were so many of us! But it was such a brilliant and rather special evening. I know it completely made Emily’s (the bride’s) day and it certainly made mine. We’ve not all sat and done our nails like that since we were teenagers, and here we all were again, all grown up and getting married!
