Birthday treat in Norfolk

For my birthday this year, Andy has booked us a night at The Pigs in one of their spa rooms. The pigs is situated at Edgefield in Norfolk, near Holt. We are having a spa room, which includes a king-size bed, sauna, outside bath with its own TV, fire pit, drench shower and fire pit. My birthday is the 2nd of January, so guessing not many people want would want this night as we got the room for £155, which includes £50 to spend at the restaurant, great deal! Also treated ourselves to a bottle of champagne as one of their add-ons. We hope to check in a little earlier than 3 pm, so we can have lots of time to relax and unwind in front of the fire.

The pigs in Edgefield is well known for their hearty food and sourcing it all locally. I am currently thinking I will have the pork belly with a yummy dessert as it’s going to be my birthday, but can’t decide which one yet! Also now looking at their menu I might try the steak. I have had so many bad steaks recently in Norwich it will be good to pay a little more and get a good one! It’s really nice to see a place that just sticks to good British food instead of trying to offer too much selection. I always find it odd when a Chinese offers a Thai green curry for example. They are completely different countries and cuisines! Personally, it’s always a good sign when a restaurant sticks to one style of food.

One of my clients has pre-warned me to take matches as theirs got damp and unusable, so to take spares. Also told we must go to Holt on the way back for a mug of hot chocolate and treat from Byfords. Anyone else been and got any tips?

I can’t wait to go. It’s perfect timing for recovering after an already busy start to December. I have been snowed under with Christmas nails and lashes for work parties lending up to the big day! Perfect break away, just wish we could stay for longer!
