New Year’s Eve can get a little wild. It’s that one night in a year where we all like to let go for a couple of hours. It’s also the night of great expectations and the night when we like to dress to impress. We simply like to look our best on the last day of the year. This should include our skin, too.

Taking care of your skin all year round is very important because skin remembers. Don’t forget that! But this one occasion, meaning New Year’s Eve, requires a bit special pre and post skincare routine.

So, if you want to look your best this New Year’s Eve, take a look at these couple of pre and post skincare tips.

New Year’s Eve Pre Skincare routine

  1. Cleanser

Start off your pre-New Year’s Eve skincare routine by cleansing your skin. Cleansers are meant to remove all the dirt and oil and the leftovers of makeup from our skin.

Make sure you find a nice creamy cleanser that will be gentle on your skin and remove all the grime. This step is a must in a regular skincare routine and it will also be useful if we want to thoroughly prepare your skin for the most awaited night of the year.

  1. Exfoliate

Only after we have cleansed our skin and made sure it’s nice and clean, we can go to step two which is exfoliation.

Exfoliation is supposed to further clean and refresh our skin. When exfoliating, we are removing the old and dead skin from the surface. The best way to exfoliate the skin is by using natural ingredients such as coffee, sugar, baking soda and so on.

Exfoliation while good, can also be rough on our skin, that’s why it should be performed carefully and gently and no more than 3 times a week.

Moreover, how often you exfoliate depends entirely on your skin type. If you aren’t sure you can always consult your dermatologist.

  1. Masks

‘Tis the season to indulge and treat yourself. This is the perfect time to detox your skin with nice natural face masks.

Detox masks can tighten and additionally clean your skin from toxins. They are also an ideal way to refresh and rejuvenate it as well.

Our recommendation is to use homemade recipes and make natural masks at home. You can find many different recipes that contain natural ingredients and that can help your skin glow once again.

  1. Hydrating and moisturizing

After you have thoroughly cleaned your skin you will need to replenish it with water. This is why we use moisturizers. Hydration of our skin is highly important and it’s also important we use only the best skincare products for this purpose.

Winter is the time when our skin gets especially dry and flaky and to combat these problems, we use moisturizers. They help keep our skin hydrated and thus healthy and youthful-looking. Additionally, moisturizing our skin regularly reduces the appearance of wrinkles.

If you want to have a special glow this New Year’s Eve, make sure to moisturize regularly.

Post-New Year’s Eve skincare routine

  1. Remove all the makeup

New Year’s Eve celebration is probably the only time in the year when everyone wears makeup. Many layers of shimmering makeup. But once the night is over, your skin will highly appreciate taking off all those makeup layers. This is where makeup removers come into play.

Avoid using alcohol-based makeup removers as they can irritate your skin and dry it out even more. You can find some oil-based makeup removers that will hydrate and nourish your skin. You can also use eco-friendly towels that are reusable and biodegradable. Not only will you be able to remove all the makeup from your skin, but you will also be looking out for the environment.

  1. Once again use a cleanser

After you have removed all the makeup, you can use the cleanser once again. Removing makeup is fine, but makeup removers often can’t remove all the dirt and grime on your skin. That’s why we should use cleansers just to be sure that we have removed all possible pollutants from our faces.

  1. Serum

Next up is using face serums. They are ideal products as they moisturize your skin by penetrating deeper and replenishing your skin with active ingredients. They are in no way substitution for moisturizers as they are lightweight and don’t actually hydrate your skin enough. Serums are great for reducing wrinkles and making your skin smoother and firmer.

  1. Night cream

To finish off your skincare routine before going to bed after a long night of partying use night crème.

During the night our skin loses moisture and that’s why it needs a little bit of help from us. Night cremes are super convenient because they contain ingredients that can hydrate our skin slowly overnight. Many of them also contain hyaluronic acid that helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

Stepping into the new year with the right skincare routine is super easy. Just follow these steps every day and your skin will be nice and looked after all year round not just New Year’s Eve.
